Closely allied to vaccinum and requiring the same acid soil conditions, Zenobia speciosa ‘Pulverulenta’ is a handsome shrub growing 3-4 ft (1 m) tall, its leaves and stems covered in glaucous ‘bloom’. It blooms in midsummer, bearing its scented bell-shaped flowers of waxy-white all along the branches.

Plant in March, in full sun or partial shade and prune only to remove dead wood. Propagate by division or offsets. This is a valuable plant for waterside or bog garden for it enjoys moist conditions.
