Spathiphyllum Wallisii (White Sails)

(Araceae) origin: Colombia

An easy, bushy plant with dark green, shiny, lance-shaped leaves, 5 to 6 in. long and 1 to 1-1/2 in. wide, with thin, pointed tips. The plant is grown chiefly for its delicate white flowers, which rise up through the leaves on thin stems, and bloom at intervals between spring and autumn. The plant prefers shade, warmth and humidity, although it will tolerate temperatures down to 50° F. (10° C.) or a hot, dry atmosphere. Keep moist in winter, but give rather more water in summer and feed regularly.
