Pleione Formosana

Type: Semi-epiphytic or terrestrial.

Features: Short, squat pseudobulbs with ribbed leaves — produced only after flowering. Trumpet-shaped 7.5-10cm (3-4in) wide flowers with lance-shaped spreading petals, in shades of pink, mauve, creamy yellow or white. The flower lip is fringed or crested and often distinctly marbled.
Size: Up to 15cm (6in) tall.

Special needs: Bright but indirect light; cool temperatures; water moderately; liquid feed fortnightly; plunge in a cold frame outdoors during the dormant winter period.
