Growing Ranunculus Bulbs

The ranunculus is invaluable for providing an abundance of colourful blooms during May and June. Easy to grow and thriving in almost any situation, it may need some protection from cold winds. Double Turban ranunculus are obtainable in separate colours including scarlet, orange and yellow as well as mixed shades.

The Giant French varieties are particularly good for cutting, while the double Persian Mixed strain has many brilliant colours.

Tubers should be planted from November to March, claws downwards, 2 in. deep in sandy soil and a light mulching of decayed manure given in early spring will be of great benefit. Ranunculus also make effective pot plants.
