Growing Blue Spiderwort (Commelina)

Sometimes known as the Blue Spiderwort, commelina is easy to grow and does best in warm sunny situations. Planting is usually done in the spring and the roots can, if required, be started in pots and planted out of doors towards the end of May. Commelina tuberosa produces, in summer, lovely gentian-blue flowers on 15 to 18-in. stems which also carry long lance-shaped leaves.
