Bulb Growing: Freesias

Although usually regarded as a greenhouse subject, there is now a strain of freesias available which is quite suitable for growing out of doors. They can be cultivated in exactly the same way as gladioli. The corms should be planted 2 to 3 in. deep from mid-April onwards in a well-drained soil where the situation is not exposed to cutting winds.

The colour range is extremely wide. They flower from August onwards but the corms cannot be kept for the following year.
