(E = evergreen)

Berberidopsis corallina, a most attractive shrub with semi-twining growths for a wall of any aspect in the milder parts of the British Isles. It has leathery, dark green leaves and drooping clusters of deep-crimson flowers from July onward. Prefers a lime-free soil to which a little leaf mould has been added. Routine pruning is unnecessary, except for shortening the main branches in late winter to keep the plant within bounds.
